CHIVPP: Caring for HIV Positive People
IWRH: Improving Women’s Reproductive Health

CARING FOR HIV POSITIVE PEOPLE

The goal of this program is to care for HIV positive people holistically through medical and psychological care
• Conducting regular blood count tests
• Organizing group discussions and Self-help groups for stigmatisation prevention
• Community awareness to encourage voluntary HIV screening for keys population(sex workers,drugs users)
•Medical follow up for HIV positive people

IMPROVING WOMEN’S REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH (IWRH)

This program seeks to sensitize both men and women in family planning to reduce overpopulation (5.7 babies on average per woman, leading to family conflict  and malnutrition)
•Six  community health workers teach use of birth control in weekly gatherings
• Number attending clinic for contraception has increased (monthly average of 500 in 2021; 120 per month in 2017)
• Significant challenges due to high proportion of religious believes  and Burundian culture

RAPE SURVIVORS SUPPORT

RSS helps survivors of gender-based violence to heal and reintegrate into their communities both socially and economically.
Main activities for RSS
•Trauma healing workshops
•Home visits
•Medical care
•Self-help groups
•Income Generating Activities

ACTION ON GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE (AGBV)

•As RSS focus on GBV case management, we have initiated this new program for community mobilization against GBV.
•AGBV is now supported by  both AGLI and QSN
•In 2014, we have started with the Evangelical Friends Church leaders because they have a peace history. In fact, GBV is also present in our churches.
•Since 2016, we have started to work with the local administration by mobilizing community elected leaders to act on GBV
•In December 2016, together with the local administration and other organizations on the ground, we have organized peace walks against GBV during the 16 days campaign against GBV
